Abstract:
In this paper, research progress on joining of ceramics and ceramic matrix composites was reviewed. It included the study on the wetting mechanism, improvement of wetting, relationship between the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the joining interface, joining mechanism and the approaches to relieve the residual stress of the joints. The selection of interlayers was also summarized including a glass ceramic interlayer, composite interlayers, composite brazing fillers and functionally graded material interlayers. The breakthrough and remaining issues were analyzed and a preview was made on the research on joining of ceramics and ceramic matrix composites.
