Welding process of the spoke-style superalloy turbine rear frame

Abstract
The spoke-style turbine rear frame (TRF) made of the materials of GH4169 and K4169 is an important load-bearing component in gas turbine,and composed of multiple sub-components welded by gas tungsten arc welding and electron beam welding. Due to the complex structure and the plentiful welds in the TRF,it is hard to obtain the mechanism of the welding deformation and its control method. In order to prevent the crack in manufacturing the TRF,the welding processes were defined and the welding deformation was also controlled based on the analyses of thermal nonuniform and the theory of welding structure and welding metallurgy. By using the optimized welding process,the test TRF fully meets design requirements,and passes the durability test after qualification review.
