Application and development prospect of friction stir welding technology in power transmission and transformation field in China

  • The aluminum alloy materials and their welded structural parts commonly used in power transmission and transformation were introduced. The 5 series aluminum alloy with good corrosion resistance and 6 series with good conductivity were often used in welding structure. The application status of friction stir welding technology in welded structural parts were analyzed,such as aluminum alloy water-cooled plate radiator,gas insulated transmission line (GIL),gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS),energized conductor. At last,it is pointed out that the friction stir welding technology has shown great potential in power applications. However,the application in the power industry is in the initial stage,and it is necessary to comprehensively consider the electrical characteristics of the equipment,and conduct more detailed research on the weld performance.
