Effect of filler metal on microstructure and properties of 2205 duplex stainless steel TIG welded joint

  • The TIG welding process was used to weld 2205 dupex stainless steel using ER308 and Ni317 wires with diameter of 2. 0 mm at welding current of 100 A. The microstructure, tensile properties, microhardness and corrosion resistance of the welded joint were studied. The results show that at the welding current of 100 A,the microstructure of the weld joint is dendritic, and Ni element of the filler metal can promote austenite formation. The joint obtained with ER308 wire has better plasticity and tensile strength, and the joint with Ni317 wire is more corrosion resistant than that with ER308 wire.
