Abstract
This paper introduced the development of E308L-15 stainless steel electrode for cryogenic application(-196 ℃). The chemical composition, metallurgical structure, ferrite number, intergranular corrosive resistance, tensile strength and Charpy V notch impact absorbed energy at-196 ℃ of deposited metal were investigated. The results showed that the metallurgical structure of deposited metal was composed of austenite and a small amount of ferrite. In the meantime, the impact absorbed energy of Charpy V notch impact test at-196 ℃ increased with the oxygen content decrease of deposited metal. The factors that influenced the low-temperature impact toughness were discussed. Moreover, the method that could improve the low-temperature impact toughness was proposed.
