Microstructure and properties of welded joint of pulse TIG welded FeCrAl alloy plate

  • The homogenous material of FeCrAl alloy plate was welded by Pulse TIG welding. The microstructure characteristics of welded joint, the distribution of oxide particles in the weld zone and the mechanical properties of welded joint were investigated by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). Pulse TIG welding of FeCrAl alloy plate was carried out by filling FeCrAl alloy wire with equal composition. After welding, the weld zone was composed of coarse ferritic microstructure and the heat affected zone was composed of fine equiaxed crystal microstructure. After heat treatment, the maximum tensile strength of the welded joint reached 502 MPa, which was about 65.4% of the base material strength, which could about meet the mechanical properties of the welded joint of FeCrAl alloy sheet as load-bearing structure.
