Review on welding process of nickel-based superalloy

  • Nickel-based superalloy is a metal material used in the core components of major national engineering, such as aerospace and nuclear energy, whose connection reliability has been research focus at home and abroad. Varieties of effective welding methods for different nickel-based superalloys have also been proposed. At present, important breakthroughs have been made in the research of welding process and defects. Control methods of weld’s microstructure have been verified theoretically, and a digital prediction model has been established to realize prediction and control of weld quality more accurately. In this paper, application fields of nickel-based superalloy are briefly introduced, research progress of nickel-based superalloy welding technology in recent years is reviewed, and advantages and disadvantages of welding technology for nickel-based superalloy welding are expounded, mainly involving tungsten argon arc welding, laser beam welding, electron beam welding, friction welding, brazing and transient liquid phase.
