Effect of welding methods on microstructure and properties of S22053 welding joints

  • GTAW and PAW were employed to weld the S22053 duplex stainless steel with the thickness of 10 mm. The strength,impact energy,microstructure,ferrite amount and corrosion resistance were tested for the S22053 welded joints. The results shows that the welded joints by both processes get the excellent properties. PAW can improve the productivity greatly. Both the microstructures of the welds joints are Austenitic and Ferrite,while their shapes are different. The amounts of Ferrite in welds and HAZ of PAW joints are lower than that in GTAW joint.The welded joint of PAW has the more excellent corrosion resistance.
