Test and application of welding robot for composite beam steel girder of HongKong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

In view of the bridge web welding forms, two kinds of automatic welding tests were carried out using plate of 24 mm and 40 mm. The groove types are V and X, respectively. The test weld seams were inspected that can meet the requirements of bridge steel girder web in both seam appearance and intimal quality. The application of the welding robot in the butt joint of the steel girder web for the HongKong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge shows that the welding quality and welding efficiency are obviously improved, and the welding cost is obviously reduced.
